Cancellation

This information will guide you through our cancellation policies and processes. 

Cancellation for Runners

All TCS New York City Marathon fees are nonrefundable. If you cancel your entry, it cannot be reinstated for the current year's TCS New York City Marathon. If you cancel this year (and did not cancel last year) and you want to guarantee your entry for the following year, you'll need to apply for the upcoming race during the application window and pay the processing and entry fees required.

Runners who have guaranteed entry to the 2018 race because they canceled in 2017 can cancel a second time but will not be eligible for guaranteed entry in 2019.

Cancellation for Official Charity Partner Program Entrants

If you applied through an official charity or charity partner and wish to cancel, please contact your charity directly for cancellation requirements. Charity entrants may be eligible to receive guaranteed entry to the 2018 TCS New York City Marathon if they met their 2017 fundraising requirements with the charity partner.

Cancellation for International Travel Partner Entrants

If you applied through an International Travel Partner and wish to withdraw, please contact your travel partner directly. Withdrawn entrants will not receive guaranteed entry to the following year's TCS New York City Marathon or subsequent TCS New York City Marathons.

Cancellation for Athletes with Disabilities

Handcyclists and other AWDs who entered the 2017 race through Achilles International and who canceled are not eligible for guaranteed entry to the 2018 race unless entered by Achilles International in that race.

Cancellation for Those Who Purchased Race Entry Fee Insurance

New York Road Runners has partnered with Allianz Global Assistance to provide race entry fee insurance for participants in the TCS New York City Marathon. “Registration Protector” from Allianz Global Assistance is available for purchase by TCS New York City Marathon registrants who are United States residents. Entry fees are refundable if runners purchased Registration Protector and their claim is accepted by Allianz; such runners will still need to cancel their TCS New York City Marathon race entry, following the instructions below, in order to claim their guaranteed entry for the following year's race. Cancellation Instructions

  • Online: Go to My NYRR and log in with your email address and password. Go to the registration section on the left toolbar and click on Races to view the status of your marathon registration and follow the process to cancel your entry. The deadline to cancel online in 2018 is 11:59 p.m. ET, Saturday, November 3, 2018.
  • In person: Cancellations will be accepted in person at the TCS New York City Marathon Expo Presented by New Balance (November 1-3, 2018).
